Session Summary:
Will and I had a TERRIFIC first session. Unfortunately, the session was plagued with connection problems, but Will kept a positive attitude throughout and handled the technical hiccups with ease and a good spirit. We made introductions and discussed how we want to handle these sessions, since I'm tutoring him in two subjects. We then jumped into his English assignment, a paragraph in which Will was to argue, with evidence, the age-old question, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" We had a lot of fun brainstorming his arguments and his counterarguments as well as his balancing conclusion. Will made it abundantly clear he is *very* sharp. I also appreciate how light-hearted he was and how willing he was to laugh and joke, while the entire time learning a *lot*. We finished the session with some Latin. Because of the connection issues, we weren't able to get into much, but we started our review of the Latin verb system, specifically the five characteristics (we plowed our way through three of them: person, number, and voice). Will and I came up with a plan of attack for him to tackle his paragraph assignment, namely he'll write, I'll edit it, then he put on the final touches to turn in so his English teacher can tear it to shreds (Will told me Mr. Krochmal grades *very* hard). Thanks so much, Will, for your patience and readiness to learn and your wit—I foresee us having a great time in these tutoring sessions which I also foresee being fruitful. Talk soon!
