Session Summary:
Sam did an outstanding job in tutoring today! He demonstrated he has clearly retained a great deal from our previous study together of Latin from before the summer hiatus. Today, at Sam's own initiative, we spent the session in review: the formulae for deriving the present-system and the perfect-system stems; how the vowel with which a verb's present-system ends gives you the conjugation to which that verb belongs; a thorough review of grammatical mood, which segued nicely into a thorough review of the Latin system of infinitives; the three functions of the nominative case; the three functions of the accusative case; the two pertinent pieces of information derived from the genitive singular of any given noun (the true stem of that noun and the declension to which that noun belongs). Whew! I am VERY proud of how much material Sam was ready and eager to cover in today's session. Thanks so much, Sam, for your great, hard work today.
