Session Summary:
Pavan and I had an excellent first session. Pavan is a strong student who's truly interested in the subject and wants his understanding to go beyond the surface. We handled together the grammatical concepts of the French subjunctive mood in the present tense and in the past tense. We then went on to begin our exploration of the many uses and triggers of the subjunctive, a mood the French language uses MUCH more than we do in the English language. This is a large amount of information and concepts to take in, but it's clear to me Pavan is grasping this material well. He struggles with proper pronunciation of French, but I weave guidance in that with the material and the exercises. I asked Pavan if he wants to meet once a week or twice, and he said he wants to meet twice a week, in order to meet his goal of earning a five on the AP French Exam (I told Pavan that was one laudable goal he had set for himself, one I have no trouble believing this fine, intelligent young man is going to meet). Great job tonight, Pavan—thanks so much!
