Session Summary:
Nicholas did an OUTSTANDING job in tutoring today. After hammering out some housekeeping issues, we launched right into his corrections on the "Participles" expl/ex set. Nicholas did a superb job with these corrections and more than demonstrated he has a much stronger understanding now of this piece of Latin grammar that he tells me has given him trouble for a long time. I guided Nicholas through handling the notes and color-coding I left on his initial attempt to translate Exercise 2.6 #1, with which he struggled. He struggled in particular with the passive voice, so I led him through a mini-lesson of the passive voice both in English and in Latin. I also led Nicholas through an impromptu mini-lesson on the Latin substantive (adjectives able to act as nouns because Latin employs gender). We finished the session by translating together Exercise 2.6 #5, on which Nicholas did a superb job. Thanks, Nicholas, for your good, hard work today. I'm so glad to hear your coach gave you "explicit orders" to relax.
