Session Summary:
Mason did great tonight. He's really sweating tomorrow's final, on which, frankly, it's likely he isn't going to do well. Really, though, it's because he was allowed to progress to Latin 2 despite what should have been glaringly apparent that he wasn't ready to do so. Mason and I agreed he will do as well as he can on tomorrow's final, then he and I will engage, over the coming weeks, in a crash course of Latin 1 in order to catch him up to the rest of his class, so that he can finally stop feeling as if he's always playing catch-up, which I told him is an awful feeling for a student, to always be feeling as if you're the only student in the room who doesn't have a clue. After getting him caught up, Mason and I agreed we could meet on an as-needed basis. I left Mason with the advice to simply work on his English final and not even look any further at the material for the Latin final, that he could rest assured his brain will chew on the material we've covered in the background and he'll be surprised how much he has retained when he goes into tomorrow's Latin final. Thanks so much, Mason, for a your good, hard work tonight. You're going to do just fine tomorrow.
