Session Summary:
Kendrick did an INCREDIBLE job this evening!! Holy cow, how do his parents keep that incredible brain of his fed and challenged?!! We continued our dealing with the "1st-, 2nd, and 4th-Conjugation Verbs" explanation/exercise set, and Kendrick plowed through it with the same ease and command with which he had on Saturday. We then moved over to the "Nouns and Their Characteristics" expl/ex set and thoroughly explored the three characteristics of nouns, pronouns, and adjective: case, number, and gender. The exploration of the gender allowed for an impromptu discussion about how language—*any* language—is a window onto how a people view their world. For example, the Eskimos have 137 words for snow! In the Latin there are 37 verbs that are some variation on the idea of killing, which was an important, even favorite pastime of the Romans. I was actually sorry the hour-and-a-half had elapsed so quickly. I *thoroughly* enjoy tutoring Kendrick. A student of his calibre is every teacher's wish to come upon. Thanks, Kendrick, for your good, hard work tonight.
