Session Summary:
Jacob did absolutely great today. We jumped right into our work. I started the session with a lesson I like to do with my students that illustrates the importance of thinking outside the box and how easily we allow ourselves to become narrowed in our thinking. We then returned to the First-Declension Nouns and Second-Declension Nouns explanation/sets, where we concentrated on honing Jacob's translation skills. After I guided him in breaking down the grammar of each word, Jacob agreed his second attempt at the translation was the sentences was *way* different than his first, and way more correct. After Jacob agreed to go an extra 15 minutes, we finished the session with some work on his Grammatical Justification exercise. At the end of the session, I asked Jacob if he wanted to continue with the tutoring, I told him his dad had said that's what he wanted to see happen, and Jacob said, "Okay, great! I'm glad Dad and I are on the same page." I very much look forward to continuing to work with Jacob. Over these few sessions I feel he and I have already forged a real rapport, and Jacob has proven himself a wonderful, eager, open-minded student to teach. Thanks so much, Jacob—I look forward to our next session!
