Session Summary:
Erik ended up coming late to this evening's session, but, once we got all the snafus set aside, we jumped right into continuing our translation of "The Belt of Pallas" and Erik proved yet again what a *strong* command of Latin he possesses. He broke down the grammar of each word very well, and used that broken-down grammar to translate the sentences with ease. A new piece of grammar Erik encountered tonight was the alternate genitive singular of second-declension nouns that end in -ius (ex., filius --> fili (as opposed to the expected form of filii). I did ask Erik to be more careful about being on time for tutoring (he was late this evening simply because he had gotten busy with other tasks and the time had gotten away from him). I also asked Erik to be sure in the future to already have his personal tutoring webpage called up and to already have his binder. These are the usual hiccups encountered at the beginning of any series of tutoring sessions. I continue to find Erik a complete joy to guide in his growing mastery of this beautiful language. Thanks so much, Erik, for your good, hard work this evening.
