Session Summary:
Another TERRIFIC session with Emma and Jillian, two of the most pleasant and engaging young ladies with whom it's been my pleasure to work lately!! We continued and completed the "Third Declension Nouns" explanation/exercise set, on which Emma and Jillian did superbly. They each did particularly well with the principle of making adjectives agree in number, gender, and case with the nouns they modify. We then launched into the "Fourth Declension Nouns" expl/ex set, which the young lades handled with equal aplumb. Throughout both expl/ex sets, we worked with English derivatives, and I was also able to do a mini-lesson concerning the derivation of the "romance" languages as well as the natural tendency of all languages to "level", that is, evolve from the complex to the simple. It made for a fruitful 90 minutes. Thanks, Emma and Jillian, for your good, solid work this morning.
