Session Summary:
Adam and I had a good session tonight. Adam really worked hard and diligently on lines 25 thru 37 of the ongoing passage "Quintus togam virilem sumit". I was quite impressed the amount he was able to translate into smooth, correct English without breaking down the grammar of each Latin word. There were points, though, where it was obviously necessary for him to do that in order to come to the correct translation. I was also dismayed at the gaps in Adam's command of some rather basic Latin grammar, basic grammar on which I would like to tutor Adam except that clearly the intention of these tutoring sessions is that they will be the time he does his homework assignment, leaving no time for tutoring Adam in anything other than the homework. I really admired Adam's stick-to-it-ness tonight—not only had he just come from a basketball double-header, but SuperBowl 50 was taking place as we were working. Despite all that, he plowed conscientiously through the material, hard work that resulted in a strong, good translation of the twelve lines. Good job tonight, Adam. Enjoy the game, kiddo!
